Alamo Area Council Of Governments

Alamo Area Council of Governments operates as a voluntary association of local governments across the Alamo Region, designated State Planning Region 18, spanning 13 counties and 12,582 square miles in south central Texas. Rather than functioning as a regulatory body, AACOG holds no authority to tax or regulate; instead it assists member governments with planning and coordination activities aimed at improving quality of life for residents throughout the region.

The organization's work spans several distinct areas of public need. It provides health and human services with a focus on vulnerable and underserved populations, and delivers safe, reliable, and affordable transportation options for residents. Home-based support includes assistance with energy conservation and home modifications, alongside free short-term services and resources for family caregivers. AACOG also advances regional efforts on solid waste and air quality management, and offers guidance to residents seeking to connect with resources that meet community needs.

Governance runs through a Board of Directors that meets monthly and an Executive Committee that convenes quarterly. Both bodies hold meetings open to the public and accessible to people with disabilities, and AACOG actively encourages resident participation in these sessions.
