Amplitude Design

Kevin Johnson has run Amplitude Design as a one-person operation out of Portland, OR since 2002, taking on web and application projects that range from e-commerce builds to contract work, brochure sites, and custom application development. Clients work directly with Johnson rather than being routed through a larger team, and several have stayed with the company for years, in some cases more than a decade, with some now on a third iteration of their major projects.

Services cover frontend and backend development, systems integration, and both website and landing page design, addressing needs from a simple brochure site to a fully integrated content management system, secure e-commerce platform, web app, or intranet/extranet. Johnson treats design as one part of a broader planning process, with business requirements shaping decisions before visual work begins. Each project gets a detailed review of client requirements, and builds are tested across a range of devices and platforms before launch.

The long client relationships reflect continuity built into how the business runs: the same person handles planning, development, and testing on every job, an arrangement that has held for over 16 years of operation in Portland.
