Apex Mobile builds mobile applications for public safety and civic organizations, a focus that traces back to a custom police department app built for the Santa Ana Police Department in 2012 for community engagement. A code-free app development platform followed in 2013, and the company committed fully to the public safety space with the Apex Mobile launch in 2015. In 2018, it expanded into internal agency tools with the Apex IRIS platform, developed alongside the Huntington Beach Police Department. The company now serves over 150 civic, law enforcement, and fire agencies across the US and Canada.

Work spans native iOS and Android development, cross-platform builds, mobile backend and API work, QA and testing, app store optimization, CI/CD, and ongoing maintenance and updates. Its Community Engagement platform is cloud-powered and fully native, integrating with web-based features so agencies can push real-time activity updates, send instant notifications, collect anonymous tips, publish wanted and missing persons information, offer sex offender lookups, display crime maps, list agency contacts, and run community message boards. Each deployment can be customized with features specific to the community it serves, and the platform is built for ease of use, flexibility, and growth as agency needs change.

During the COVID-19 period, Apex Mobile offered public safety agencies apps for pandemic response, including a social distancing solution built for first responders. On the delivery side, the company points to a Sheriff's Department in Texas as holding its current record for fastest turnaround, from initial call to live apps, a marker of how quickly its build and deployment process can move for agencies that need tools in the field fast.
