Chromatic

Chromatic builds custom software platforms for organizations with complicated technical histories: an HR consulting firm needing a platform overhaul, an international IT security company requiring a more efficient editorial process, a nonprofit poetry resource whose Drupal/Vue.js application needed recoupling for better maintainability. The work spans industries and organization types, from cultural institutions to consumer brands expanding into new markets.

Development centers on enterprise-grade Drupal implementations alongside modern JavaScript frameworks including React, Vue.js, and Alpine.js, used together or separately depending on what a platform requires. Backend and infrastructure work covers Docker containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, CI/CD pipeline builds, and Infrastructure as Code, deployed across AWS, Azure, Platform.sh, and Pantheon. Complex data migration planning and execution runs through much of this work, since many clients arrive with legacy systems that need untangling before new features can be built on top.

Specific projects illustrate the range: integrating the JFK Library's digital asset management system with its web platform, building a component library for a sunglasses brand to support international expansion, and migrating more than 50 sites off an outdated legacy CMS to cut technical debt and improve web architecture. Each engagement pairs strategic technical planning with hands-on implementation, whether that means recoupling an existing application's frontend and backend, standing up a new cloud environment, or executing a large-scale platform migration without disrupting day-to-day operations for the organizations that depend on these systems.
