Cloud Gehshan

Cloud Gehshan works on projects where a place itself needs a voice — parks, campuses, memorials and other natural and built environments that require visitors to understand where they are and why it matters. Clients include Baltimore County's park system, the University of Pennsylvania, and the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, each requiring a different mix of identity work, orientation systems and interpretive content.

The practice centers on Experience Design, a combination of environmental branding, wayfinding and storytelling built to make a place welcoming, navigable and interactive. Environmental branding pairs strategy with visual expression to give a site its own identity; wayfinding helps people move through unfamiliar or complex settings; storytelling layers historical, cultural, scientific, architectural, ecological or transportation content so visitors can read and reflect at their own pace. Visual solutions are developed to reflect the character of the specific place rather than a generic look, and interpretive content is shaped to support each client's mission and deepen engagement with the people who visit.

Project work spans a countywide wayfinding system designed for Baltimore's parks, the Benjamin Franklin's Way project for the University of Pennsylvania, and identity and storytelling work for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial. Across these engagements, the throughline is environments that combine clear navigation with content that helps visitors understand and connect with the significance of a place.
