CoMutiny

Great Bernera, Outer Hebrides, United Kingdom

Video, web and app production for arts, community and third-sector organisations

Based in Great Bernera in the Outer Hebrides, CoMutiny works location independent as a self-described "hacker activist" led organisation, taking on projects with new, existing or loosely formed communities and companies. The work centres on engagement and disruption, aiming to discover, develop and enhance social outcomes and skills through content and applications built for the organisations involved, much of it within the Arts and 3rd Sector.

Production and digital build sit side by side. Production covers corporate and promotional film, visual and special effects, livestreaming for events, and 360° and aerial video. Digital work covers web design and development alongside mobile design and development. Clients can bring the organisation in as consultancy or as a working production team, with programmes tailored to individual needs rather than delivered as a fixed package.

Several named initiatives show how this plays out. REBEL LABS is committed to creating meaningful learning and engagement opportunities, helping individuals, communities and organisations understand how to harness the potential of digital. REBEL MAKERS is a network of peer-to-peer making clubs. Carbon Guilt exchange enables ordinary citizens to positively impact their carbon footprint. Together these projects point to a practice built around collaborative work rather than standard commercial output.
