The BC Film Commission, housed within Creative BC, delivers support and resources to the motion picture industry and to the communities where productions film across British Columbia. As an economic development agency for the province's creative sector, Creative BC acts as both industry catalyst and ambassador, working across film, television, and related creative industries while backing B.C. creators, entrepreneurs, and companies through strategic investment.

A core part of the work involves administering the provincial government's motion picture tax credit programs, including Motion Picture Tax Credits structured as labour-based refundable corporate income tax credits. Beyond tax credit administration, Creative BC delivers program funding and export marketing support intended to help the sector grow beyond provincial borders, alongside provincial film commission services that assist productions on the ground.

Recent activity illustrates the range of this support: Creative BC granted $1.25 million to 84 artists through Amplify BC's Career Development program, and introduced the Creative Pathways™ Bursary to support regional B.C. film industry training. The organization periodically invites applications for Board Directors, reflecting its structure as a publicly oriented body governing sector investment. Across these programs, B.C.'s creators are treated as storytellers whose economic, social, environmental, and creative potential merits direct institutional backing.
