Kuark

Since 2008, Kuark has designed and built mobile applications for Android and iOS, working from a lifecycle model that runs from initial planning and idea through to a finished product. Before any design work begins, the process opens with user interviews aimed at understanding target user behavior and surfacing core findings, supported by ethnographic research techniques adapted to contemporary communication tools to study the target audience and market.

Once research is complete, the team studies competing projects within the same sector to map out what to pursue, what to avoid, and where to differentiate. Wireframing follows, using design tools to lay out the pages where users will interact with the product, and prototyping simulates how the application will function before any code is written — with user feedback and customer requirements folded in throughout. On the build side, Kuark develops native mobile applications for Android and iOS as well as hybrid apps designed to run from a single codebase across both platforms.

Native applications are built with an eye toward getting them into app stores quickly once development is complete. Before release, products go through both manual and automated security testing, a step intended to protect data and confirm the quality of the finished application. Across projects, the sequence stays consistent: user research and market analysis first, wireframes and prototypes to validate functionality, then native or hybrid development followed by security testing before launch.
