Qenetech

Qene Games, based in Addis Ababa, is described on its site as Ethiopia's first game development studio, founded in 2019. It created Kukulu, winner of the 2018 appsAfrica Award for Best Entertainment Solution, and Gebeta, winner of the 2020 appsAfrica Award for Best App of the Year. Gebeta is published by Carry1st under a global partnership agreement, and Qene Games Inc is incorporated as a Delaware C-Corp.

Beyond building titles, the studio states an aim to grow gaming capacity on the African continent through mentoring, recruiting, and upskilling African game developers.
