Vital Hike

Vital Hike was founded in 2010 by brothers Eddie and Chris Dunkerley and operates from Newport-on-Tay, Fife. The agency specialises in progressive web technology, building bespoke digital platforms for clients ranging from charities and manufacturers to farm shops and tour operators, rather than sticking to one industry vertical.

Work spans the full build process: ux research, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing sit alongside frontend development, backend development, application development and website design. This lets projects move from early concept testing through to a finished, working platform rather than handing off a design and stepping away.

Past projects illustrate the range. Vital Hike created a brand identity for Scottish charity Sacro, built a trade partner portal for manufacturer Stevens Scotland, and developed a membership platform for delivering online courses. Other builds include a personalised subscription service for a pet food supplier, an itinerary app for a luxury tour operator, and a bespoke e-commerce platform for an agri-seed distributor. The agency has also built a secure digital management system for a children's social care provider, brought a boutique farm shop online, created an automated booking system for a holiday vehicle hire company, and delivered a custom event booking platform for a country park. Together these projects show a practice built around custom application and platform work for organisations with specific operational needs, from bookings and subscriptions to trade and course delivery, rather than template-based websites.
