CSHEL Search Strategies, founded in 2007, is built around one advisor: Carolyn Shelby, whose work in digital systems and search dates back to building and operating internet infrastructure in the early 1990s. That background spans infrastructure, media, SaaS, and platform environments, and it shapes how the practice is used today — by executive teams and PE-backed businesses trying to diagnose why digital visibility has stopped working and what structural issues are behind it.

Engagements are advisory by design, not execution shops. Carolyn leads all advisory work directly, covering technical SEO, content SEO, and search audits, along with newer questions around AI-mediated discovery and platform risk. When execution is required, it is structured and delivered through Northside Metrics rather than handled in-house, and CSHEL works with a small group of trusted specialists to fill in what advisory work identifies but doesn't itself deliver. The result is a practice organized around diagnosis and repair of search infrastructure at an enterprise scale, rather than ongoing campaign management.
